11 EDC items to add to your daily life

Every Single Day is the day you need EDC.

“Keys Wallet Phone.” “Key Wallet Ring Watch Phone.” “Keys Wallet Ring Watch Phone Hank Knife.” These are the things that I have said to myself throughout my lifetime every time I leave the house, get up from having a meal out, leaving a theatre, or crawling out of a strange bed. Depending on my age, location, or task at hand, I always have needed some sort of “Every Day Carry” item, or EDC. In this blog post I am going to talk about 10 EDC items that I have found useful. These items are not the only items I have used and abused, but I definitely say “YUP” to these EDC “thingys”.

Let’s get right to it. You know what EDC is, and you don’t have time for fluff writing.

#1 EDC Knife.

You need a knife. It is the first thing on my list, and it should be on yours as well. Carry a knife with you that you will actually use. Sure it can be pretty, and you can even coordinate the color of the handle with your shoes if you like, but if you are going to carry one around with you, make sure it is one that you are comfortable with, and that you will actually use. #2 EDC Wallet

Cash Rules Everything Around ME – CREAM. Money, Money, Money. You are gonna need some money if you want some stuff. Carry it around in your Wallet. You can be damn sure you are gonna need a wallet to carry your cash or cards so make sure you have a cool one that works for you. Get something traditional, or something slick, but stay organized and have it handy. Here are some options here on the YUP GEAR website that work well:

#3 EDC Phone.

Phone. You need your phone now. If is just part of life. Maybe you are able to get away from it all and you don’t need to call anyone, or have them call you, but honestly who are you kidding. you need your phone to check Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, Reddit, etc. You need your phone to check emails, texts, scores, or watch You Tube. Just embrace it. I prefer Droids over “Crapples”, but that is just my opinion, and well,……that is what you are getting here.

#4 EDC Keys.

Keys. Open stuff, close stuff, keep things safe with your keys. Don’t do anywhere without them, but make sure you do not fall down on top of them, and definitely do not lose your keys in a mosh pit at Lollapalooza in 1993 (RIGHT JEFF!?). Falling your keys hurts and it sucks, but not as bad as actually misplacing or losing your keys. To compact the loss of your keys make sure you have a good key chain. #5 EDC Ring.

Ring. OK so this one is a bit tricky. You may or may not have or want to wear a ring as part of your EDC. If you are lucky enough to find your soulmate, then wear it for all to see. If you are not ready to get hitched, or just don’t want to, well I would advise you to consider wearing a ring anyway. Rings are not only a symbol of love, but the right one will help you put your fist through a face or a window. Plot Twist! YUP! Rings are cool. Just get the one that works for you.

#6 EDC Handkerchief

Hank. One of my favorite things to do in a crowd is sneeze, whip out my custom handkerchief, blow my nose in it, and say, ” I thought it was something good, but it’s snot.” Now I would not be able to do this without a handkerchief, or “hank”, because if I didn’t have one, then I would just have snot on my hands. The hank is an underrated EDC item, and it is so useful. Wipe your hands off after working on your small block 350, cover some blood from a mere fresh wound, you name it! In general they are great items. Here are some options here on the YUP GEAR website that work well:

#7 EDC Watch.

What time is it? Just look at your cell phone right? Lame. Get a watch. Nothing is sexier than a watch tan line. Just ask anyone. You will see they have no idea what you are talking about. Watches are sometimes used a status symbol, or a fashion piece, but I feel like it is a tool that should be used. Depending on your lifestyle or activity, you may decide to get a watch that is tailored for just that. Going Diving? Get a diving watch. Going out to dinner, Get a dinner watch? Is that a thing? I don’t know. I prefer a simple watch that tells time. Preferably it is a self winding watch that does not rely on a battery. Heard of am EMP? Look into it.

#8 EDC Shades.

Shades. Required or not it is always a good idea to have some eye protection within reach. If it is required for you to have eye glasses to see, well then this is a no brainer. If you are out and you need to protect yourself from the suns harmful rays, then grab your sunglasses. If you are in an environment where there are projectiles flying around, by all means necessary, get some eye protection on! It is humorous to me that a majority of people would rather spend more money on a pair of jeans than a good pair of shades. If your butt more valuable than your eye balls? Are you JLO? I thought not.

#9 EDC Belt.

Belt. This one mays surprise you, but a belt is a very necessary item for your every day carry. Sure you need one to hold up your pants, but consider what else it can do. A belt wrapped around a fist is a weapon. An extended belt is a lifeline to a friend in need. A belt is a discipline tool for the young (you know what I mean), and if you have a rated one, you could even pull a car with a belt. #10 Fire.

Burn Burn Yes you Gonna Burn. I can’t help it. RATM is the first thing I think of when it comes to fire. Do you need fire? Yes. Even if you do not smoke, you need fire. Even the caveman needed fire to survive and thrive. You can handle this a few ways, namely a fire stick, or a lighter is the solution. A simple BIC lighter will do the job, or throw a little classic vibe at your day with a ZIPPO.

#11 Gum.

Gum. YUP! Gum. You may smoke, but you should quit. A good way to help yourself is to start chewing gum. You can make friends with gum. Who doesn’t like gum? Start a conversation with a stick of gum, and offer your friendship. I always like the BLACK JACK gum, not only because I enjoy the flavor, but it is always a conversation item because most people want to try it, and even more hate it! Either way it is a win because you can start some dialog, and probably keep the rest of the pack for yourself! See how that works?
